Hi there,
We wanted to send over another Really Useful Plugins update covering what has recently shipped, what is being prepared for release, and what is coming next across the plugin lineup.
UUPD 2.0 RC is now due.
Following the UUPD 2.0.0-beta.1 release, there have been no further changes required since beta.1, so we are now preparing the UUPD 2.0 release candidate.
Beta.1 focused on making stable and pre-release updates easier to manage, especially for projects that ship alpha, beta, RC, dev, or stable builds alongside one another.
UUPD 2.0 beta.1 introduced:
- New
release_channel support
- Support for
stable, dev, alpha, beta, rc, and prerelease channels
- Update requests with
allow_prerelease and release_channel
- Static JSON metadata support for both stable and pre-release details
- Smarter update-track selection based on client configuration
- Channel-specific cache keys to avoid stable and pre-release metadata collisions
- Manual update checks that clear all channel-specific caches
This makes UUPD 2.0 much better suited to staged testing workflows, private update servers, GitHub-hosted assets, and projects that need to keep stable users on stable releases while allowing testers to receive newer pre-release builds.
We have also released two new plugins.
Gutenberg Link in Bio is now available as an initial public release. It includes a Gutenberg block suite for building link-in-bio style pages, with support for link page wrappers, sections, buttons, social icons, full-page backgrounds, responsive typography and alignment controls, layout presets, button style presets, editor-safe link handling, and improved FSE compatibility.
Gist Embedded has also been released, with automatic updates and plugin assets now included. Recent updates have also improved the CSS and split-file structure.
RUP Changelogger 2.0 is being prepared for release in June 2026.
The upcoming RUP Changelogger 2.0 release introduces more flexible release note formatting, including label-less text blocks, code blocks, and advanced release note styling.
Planned RUP Changelogger 2.0 highlights include:
- Label-less multiline Text blocks for plain text changelogs
- Markdown Text block support using the
### Text heading
- Code blocks for parser examples and documentation snippets
- Automatic URL linking inside Text blocks
- Per-release and global text block CSS targeting classes
- Expanded documentation with Text and Code block examples
- Safer handling of untagged lines outside explicit Text blocks
We have also continued to improve the 1.3 branch, including support for month and year version headers in both plain and Markdown changelogs.
Notify for SureMail has received an update with fixes and diagnostics improvements.
The latest update adds the new SUREMAIL_NOTIFY_DEBUG_ALL constant for detailed notification debugging and delivery tracing, along with improved channel routing diagnostics and HTTP response logging for Pushover, Discord, Slack, and generic webhook notifications.
We have also reduced notification payload size and simplified Slack and Discord notifications to improve compatibility with webhook providers and avoid message-length limits.
This update fixes issues where test notifications could succeed while live notifications were blocked by event-routing settings, and resolves Discord and Slack webhook failures caused by oversized payloads.
Dashy has also been updated toward 2.0 and now supports FSE.
The latest Dashy update adds beta support for Full Site Editing, improves page and post type auto-population, moves the menu item into the SureCart menu, adds stronger fallback handling for edge cases, updates native icon handling, and includes a fix for menu placement.
Thanks again for supporting Really Useful Plugins. There is a lot moving forward right now, and we are excited to keep improving the tools across the lineup.
